Davitt Road, Brickfield Drive, Mountjoy Street – all names you will become familiar with as developer Brian M Durkan Ltd has been granted planning permission for all three and building plans are well under way.
The first, “Davitt Lock”, Davitt Road is well advanced, with completion of this landmark development scheduled for mid-2022. This exciting new development is located on lands at the former Dulux paint factory site on Davitt Road, Drimnagh, Dublin 12. This is a Strategic Housing development consisting of 265 high quality one and two bedroom apartments spread across four blocks ranging from three to seven storeys. It will also contain a wide range of amenities including a retail/café unit, a resident’s gym, two visitor apartments, 119 car parking spaces, electric car chargers, internal semi-public paths, public and private open spaces and all communal facilities including refuse and bike parking.
The second, “Brickfield Square”, located on the site of the old Easons HQ on Brickfield Drive, Dublin 12 will be starting on site shortly. This development comprises 282 generously sized studio, one bedroom and two-bedroom apartments in four blocks of 4-10 storeys over basement level car parking with 108 car parking spaces (102 basement and 6 surface spaces; inclusive of 5 set-down spaces and 4 car club spaces) and 558 bicycle parking spaces.
Excellent residents’ amenities extending to 782 Sq.M. to include a concierge reception, residents lounge, co-working lounge, residents’ gym, dog wash room, and bicycle maintenance workshop. In addition to these amenities Scheme there will be an on-site Café (140 Sq.M.) and Crèche (281 Sq.M.).
Approximately 3,593 Sq.M. of external amenity space including children’s play areas, outdoor seating and courtyards, terraced planting, and pedestrian and cyclist links.
Finally, BM Durkan has recently received planning permission for “Black Church View” on Mountjoy Street, Dublin 7. This exciting, shared accommodation project comprises 114 shared accommodation units, a café, gym, co-working space and indoor and outdoor recreation and amenity spaces at Mountjoy Street, Dublin 7.
The Mountjoy Street proposal, which will be starting on site shortly will bring a state-of-the-art shared accommodation development to the city. This smart and modern way of living concentrates on community and sharing in a secure environment. The focus of this development is on community and technology, allowing for modern rental experience along with affordability.
Each floor is seen as a single community and private resident rooms feed into shared residential communal facilities. Apartment sizes in the Mountjoy Street development will be well in excess of the minimum floor area required under the current planning regulations.
Located adjacent to the new TU Grangegorman Campus and just a five-minute walk to O’Connell Street and within easy reach of the “Silicon Docks”, the location is ideally suited to people who want state of the art technology and the convenience of the concierge service and array of amenities all under one roof. The site is also served by excellent transport links with the Luas and multiple bus routes running past the proposed development.
We are working on planning applications for some very exciting new developments, which will be coming soon – Watch this space!!

The Young People’s Covid19 efforts recognised through Drimnagh Park Mural Project on out Site Hoarding on Davitt Road.
A group of young people from the St John Bosco Youth Centre completed an impressive art mural in Drimnagh’s Brickfield Park for The Front Line Workers.
Facilitated by local artist Jessica Tobin, the mural was designed and painted by local young people to honour the efforts of Irelands younger generation in helping suppress the spread of Covid19.
The artwork consists of images that depict the challenges and difficulties faced by Irelands young people, who were required to sustain months without school, sports and peer interaction.
The spray paint mural project involved a total of twelve young people aged 10yrs – 14yrs from the community of Drimnagh who worked in small groups of four to ensure social distancing was always adhered to.
Stephen Sharpe, Project Leader of the St John Bosco Youth Work Programme believes that while the art piece rightly acknowledges how Ireland’s young people responded to the challenges presented by Covid19, it is also hoped that it will encourage young people to stay motivated and continue to actively participate in the continued suppression of the virus.
The mural has received positive feedback from the community.
