Finally, BM Durkan has recently received planning permission for “Black Church View” on Mountjoy Street, Dublin 7. This exciting, shared accommodation project comprises 114 shared accommodation units, a café, gym, co-working space and indoor and outdoor recreation and amenity spaces at Mountjoy Street, Dublin 7.

The Mountjoy Street proposal, which will be starting on site shortly will bring a state-of-the-art shared accommodation development to the city. This smart and modern way of living concentrates on community and sharing in a secure environment. The focus of this development is on community and technology, allowing for modern rental experience along with affordability.

Each floor is seen as a single community and private resident rooms feed into shared residential communal facilities. Apartment sizes in the Mountjoy Street development will be well in excess of the minimum floor area required under the current planning regulations.

Located adjacent to the new TU Grangegorman Campus and just a five-minute walk to O’Connell Street and within easy reach of the “Silicon Docks”, the location is ideally suited to people who want state of the art technology and the convenience of the concierge service and array of amenities all under one roof. The site is also served by excellent transport links with the Luas and multiple bus routes running past the proposed development.

We are working on planning applications for some very exciting new developments, which will be coming soon – Watch this space!!

Thank You Frontline Workers With Lord Mayor Hazel Chu

The Young People’s Covid19 efforts recognised through Drimnagh Park Mural Project on out Site Hoarding on Davitt Road.

A group of young people from the St John Bosco Youth Centre completed an impressive art mural in Drimnagh’s Brickfield Park for The Front Line Workers.

Facilitated by local artist Jessica Tobin, the mural was designed and painted by local young people to honour the efforts of Irelands younger generation in helping suppress the spread of Covid19.

The artwork consists of images that depict the challenges and difficulties faced by Irelands young people, who were required to sustain months without school, sports and peer interaction.

The spray paint mural project involved a total of twelve young people aged 10yrs – 14yrs from the community of Drimnagh who worked  in small groups of four to ensure social distancing was always adhered to.

Stephen Sharpe, Project Leader of the St John Bosco Youth Work Programme believes that while the art piece rightly acknowledges how Ireland’s young people responded to the challenges presented by Covid19, it is also hoped that it will encourage young people to stay motivated and continue to actively participate in the continued suppression of the virus.

The mural has received positive feedback from the community.

Hawthorn: Beautifully Blended Into Mature Area

Hawthorn, a Brian M Durkan Ltd development, located next door to the Church of the Immaculate Virgin Mary of the Miraculous Medal on Bird Avenue in Clonskeagh, is a mix of apartments, duplexes and three and four detached and semi-detached homes ranging from €400,000 to €700,000 in price.

Beautifully designed by John Fleming Architects, the houses are traditional in design in keeping with the surrounding area. The red brick on the front of the houses is respectful to their towering ecclesiastical neighbour.

At the heart of the development is a central green area, designed by Ronan McDiarmada Landscape Architects. Here you will find a timber pergola, pebble river, scattered seating, and beautifully paved stone footpaths. The area includes a playground trail and play items for the little ones all of which has been floored with a safety surface.

Not surprisingly, the development sold out almost immediately, with a large proportion of the sales going to first time buyers. Those fortunate enough to get their hands on one of these properties will enjoy a 10 minute walk to the nearest Luas stop, a variety of schools to choose from along with one of the country’s finest universities, University College Dublin, on its doorstep. And the icing on the cake for shoppers is that Dundrum Town Centre is only minutes away by car.

The week is an initiative of the Construction Safety Partnership Advisory Committee (CSPAC) and its objective is to highlight safety and health issues in the Irish construction industry.

This year the CIF Safety and Health Sub Committee are focusing on 5 main areas of interest. They are:

Mental Health and Wellbeing in Construction
Working Safely with Electricity

Working on a project in the construction industry requires co-operation from everyone, from designer to contractor, to ensure a safe working environment, and Brian M Durkan are committed to supporting any initiative that promotes this. Indeed, the company takes its responsibility for safety and well-being very seriously especially when mentoring new entrants or those returning to the sector. This week is great opportunity to share experiences and learn from others, whatever it takes to avoid accidents and make sure our people are happy and safe.”

The company has planned lots of activity for safety and health week including daily toolbox talks and appearances from guest speakers. The majority of this will take place on one of Durkan’s latest developments, Somerton, Ballyboden road, Rathfarnham, Dublin 14, which will launch in 2020.
